The Teacher Aide enhances the instructional program. The Teacher Aide assists the classroom teacher with academic, behavioral, self-care, safety, and other individualized plans, as prescribed, in order to meet the needs of students. This position will work with the EL program.  

Responsibilities:

• Teach lessons for individuals or small groups
• Escort students safely from place to place within the school setting
• Assist with appropriate behavior intervention, as directed by teacher/supervisor
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student and family information with regards to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
• Implement student accommodations and modifications according to IEP or 504 plans
• Collaborate with other staff members to meet the holistic needs of assigned students
• Perform any other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent and 60 hours of post-secondary coursework 
• Excellent speaking, reading, writing and math skills (English)
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
